Client is a growing small business specializing in transportation planning and traffic engineering, which provides services to private clients and public agencies throughout the State of Florida.

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial activities, with a strong focus on percentage of completion accounting methods and revenue recognition. As the Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing project revenue and costs, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the CFO and leadership team. The position requires a general understanding of office operations and functions, advanced level of proficiency in Excel, budgeting, analysis and a fundamental understanding of accounting-related activities.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze project financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and financial models, providing insights into cost variances and profitability.

Process Improvement: Assist with integration of acquisitions, identifying and deploying best practices company-wide to bring consistency and scalability to the platform.

Contract Review: Review project contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment and cost allocation in accordance with GAAP.

Financial Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Audits and Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

Proven experience (5+ years) in Controller or senior financial role.

Project-based accounting experience that entails percentage of completion required

Strong understanding of project cost accounting and financial analysis.

Proficiency in NetSuite and/or Quickbooks Enterprise a plus, with expertise in Excel.

Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
