Position Overview: The Aquatics & Sports Director is a dynamic leader responsible for managing all aspects of the Aquatics & Sports Department. This role requires a strong focus on safety, participant recruitment and retention, and exceptional customer service. The Director will oversee the aquatics department and youth sports programs, ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and staff development. This position demands excellent communication and organizational skills to foster a cohesive and productive environment for staff, participants, and the community. Key Responsibilities: Communication and Organization: Maintain open, professional, and timely communication with all stakeholders. (Members, Parents, Employees, Etc.) Demonstrate

organizational skills. Program Growth and Development: Increase participant recruitment and retention in swim lessons and sports programs. Drive membership through excellent sports and aquatics offerings. Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing team of lifeguards, swim instructors, pool attendants, and sports staff, and volunteers. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture. Facility Management: Ensure all aquatics and sports facilities meet cleanliness and safety standards. Coordinate pool parties and special events, ensuring seamless facility operations. Community Engagement: Achieve goals for the "For A Better Us" Campaign, promoting the Y's mission and values. Engage with members, parents, coaches, staff, and community partners to build strong relationships and support. Marketing and Promotion: Develop and implement annual promotional plans for aquatics and sports programs. Utilize various media channels, including flyers, brochures, websites, newsletters, news releases, and advertisements, to attract and retain participants. Financial Management: Oversee expense control and income generation for Aquatics & Sports Departments. Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial goals are met. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the YMCA. Requirements Required: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organization skills. High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Minimum 2 years of experience in aquatics programming. Experience in sports programming and managing multiple locations and staff. Current CPR/AED/First Aid (Or will earn in the first 30 days of employment). Lifeguard Certification (Or will earn in the first 30 days of employment). Experience in volunteer and staff supervision. Knowledge of aquatics programming and safety protocols. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in a related field. Knowledge of budgeting and expense control. Certified Pool Operator certification. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Current O2 and Lifeguard Instructor Certification. Experience teaching swim lessons. Experience coaching youth sports.
