Join Our Team: Construction and Project Management Expert Wanted Are you a seasoned professional in construction and project management, with a track record of successfully overseeing complex projects? Do you have a comprehensive understanding of construction processes and a passion for delivering high-quality results? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you Minimum Required Qualifications: Fifteen (15) years of full-time paid professional experience in Construction and/or Project Management, with at least five (5) years managing projects exceeding $20M in construction value. Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience. Recent experience as a leader in the modernization and/or construction of educational or large commercial or public agency projects. Ability to complete the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential within one (1) year of employment in the Facilities Services Division of the Los Angeles Unified School District, or possession of a valid CCM credential. Preferred Qualifications: Design Build Experience. Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM). Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS). A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. A valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI). Tasks and Responsibilities: Manage, oversee, and coordinate all facets of pre-construction, bid and award, construction, and close-out phases of assigned projects. Review pre-construction documents and submit comments to the Designer as necessary. Plan, organize, and prepare reports for upper management regarding project status and progress. Coordinate with public agencies during pre-construction and construction to comply with off-site work requirements. Manage project budget and schedule to meet the District’s standards; monitor project budget monthly. Manage daily activities of contractors, review construction schedules and submittals, and coordinate responses to contractors’ inquiries. Review substitution submittals from contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and District requirements. Negotiate Contractor Change Order Proposals to achieve fair and reasonable pricing. Administer provisions of Professional Service Agreements between Architects and the District. Coordinate District delivery of fixtures, furniture, and equipment. Monitor and manage project close-out with respect to project certification and financial closeout.
