Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Engineer, the Junior Engineer performs engineering work related to capital planning and sustainability.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with engineering work related to the preparation of reports and plans for pipelines, pumps, tanks, and other water system facilities
  • Support the development of engineering studies related to groundwater and surface water supply and water loss
  • Assist with creation, updates, and maintenance of AVEVA PI System applications, analyses, data, and dashboards
  • Create, update, and calibrate complex water distribution system hydraulic models to optimize energy usage and size new or replacement facilities
  • Assist with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting
  • Assist with vehicle electrification program management
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in engineering mathematics and ability to solve problems with engineering calculations
  • Ability to create well-written engineering reports
  • Basic programing skills in Python or a similar language
  • Ability to work independently and to complete challenging assignments
  • Competent in the use of engineering and office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, CAD and other software employed by the utility
  • Experience and familiarity with engineering and construction drawings
  • Familiarity with GIS platforms
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering and possession of a valid EIT certificate.
