This role would preferably be located in Hamilton, Ontario. Other office location options include Mississauga and/or Vaughan. Position Purpose: The Specialist, Talent Acquisition is accountable for devising search strategies through the development and upkeep of market intelligence and the cultivation of network relationships to attract and recruit top-tier talent. This position drives the entire recruitment process, involving the design and implementation of campaigns to engage a diverse range of candidates, while ensuring a positive and seamless candidate experience throughout the application process at Alectra. Formulate and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies aimed at attracting high-caliber talent to the organization. Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including recruitment agencies, post-secondary institutions, and industry organizations. Proactively identify and engage passive candidates, maintaining a diverse talent pipeline for key positions across current and future opportunities while staying attuned to evolving talent trends. Lead the entire recruitment process, encompassing tasks such as screening resumes in alignment with job criteria, actively sourcing candidates, conducting interviews based on behavioral assessments, offering recommendations to hiring managers, and handling the presentation and negotiation of job offers. Uphold equitable hiring standards by collaborating with hiring managers, ensuring a standardized and consistent approach to candidate interviewing, assessment, evaluation and offer activities. Provide consultancy to hiring managers, aligning them with Alectra recruitment practices and educating them on the current talent landscape. Support initiatives that enhance our employer brand and contribute to effective talent attraction, participating in various Talent Acquisition-related projects. Develop, monitor and report on key recruitment metrics and KPIs to inform decision making Propose recommendations for adopting new technologies, such as interview scheduling software, to streamline Talent Acquisition processes. Implement programs to attract a diverse pool of candidates, including but not limited to an Employee Referral Program and Diversity Hiring Programs. Develop and facilitate training sessions for the business on Talent Acquisition topics, such as inclusive hiring training Stay abreast of Talent Market trends, best practices, and continuously improve Talent Acquisition procedures accordingly. Take ownership of the candidate experience, ensuring a positive and professional journey throughout the recruitment process. Conduct intake meetings to ensure full understanding of client expectations and strategic objectives Acquire a deep understanding of the company's organizational structure and the desired skill sets and profiles for each position. Guide the development of inclusive job postings, recommend sourcing strategies to attract a diverse pool of candidates Defend hiring decisions and manage union disputes related to selection decisions Work within legislative requirements, standards and regulations, collective agreements, Company practices and protocols; Act as a change champion, supporting and promoting changes to our recruitment processes, technologies and programs as required. Mentor the Advisor, Talent Acquisition by sharing knowledge, recruitment best practices and effective sourcing strategies. Performs other duties as assigned Education & Specialized Knowledge Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences or related discipline CHRP Designation preferred and in good standing with HRPA Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation is an asset Specialized knowledge and capability in Talent Acquisition with experience in building a talent acquisition strategy Expertise using social media and other online tools for strategic sourcing and other talent acquisition initiatives Strong working knowledge of various MS office software programs, Talent Acquisition Software such as LinkedIN Recruiter, scheduling software, Sharepoint and Ceridian Dayforce TAS Knowledge of human resources policies, practices and processes, particularly in areas of employment laws and labour relations. Up-to-date knowledge of the Ontario Labour Relations Code, the Employment Standards Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and all other applicable legislation Experience Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and leading talent acquisition processes across multiple business units Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in high volume, full-cycle recruitment role using a multi-channel sourcing approach Experience recruiting in a unionized environment Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with senior and middle management business leads Exceptional storytelling and influencing skills to positively represent Alectra in the market as an employer of choice A strong, clear communicator who knows how to keep all stakeholders on the same page Demonstrated skill in building meaningful relationships with hiring managers and candidates Highly self-directed and solution-oriented with a high sense of urgency to deliver results and meet business deadlines Solid problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide practical and/or innovative solutions to complex issues Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical information in an organized and concise way Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license How to Apply If you would like to be considered for this position and meet the qualifications, please submit your resume by clicking on the button below.
