Head Lifeguard

The Peddie School seeks a Head Lifeguard to support the Director of Aquatics in maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment at the Aquatic Center. The Head Lifeguard oversees the efficiency of our lifeguard staff for the smooth delivery of scheduled programs.

Essential Functions

• • Creation and maintenance of the lifeguard schedule
  • Ensure safety standards are met at all times on deck Supervise lifeguards and enforce proper expectations for all guards
  • Assist in the development of lifeguard in-service topics
  • Mentoring new staff
  • During an emergency, ensuring the safety of all patrons and employees in the aquatic facility is prioritized, including emergency response, evacuations, and water rescue
  • Support and aid in lifeguard certification courses held at the Peddie Aquatic Center Lifeguard regularly, ability to teach swim lessons and/or coach age group swim team a plus.
  • Assist in the management of Peddie Aquatic Center's social media accounts
  • Direct all staff, public, and patrons for the successful and safe operation of aquatics programs during the shift
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Aquatics

• • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Mature, reliable, confident, and possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work positively with other staff in conflict resolution
  • Strong understanding of site-specific emergency procedures and management of staff and patrons in these situations
  • Proven ability and experience as a lifeguard
  • Available to work days and weekends
  • WSI/LGIT is preferred but not required
