Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Director for Aquatics, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for supervision, coordinating our lifeguard team, scheduling, training, on-deck supervision, providing guard and program coverage, and troubleshooting & monitoring daily pool mechanics. The Aquatics Coordinator will be principal contact for all aquatics staff and the facilities team to ensure the aquatics facility is always staffed and functioning within the requirements of the state and local governed health departments.

Responsibilities:- Mentor lifeguards, head guards, swim instructors, and other reporting aquatics personnel by conducting effective onboarding and training for new employees.
- Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines. Assist in providing coverage and training for all aquatics programming as required.
- Cooperatively supports the Program Director of Aquatics by developing schedules, overseeing guards, ensuring all safety and risk prevention policies are followed.
- Assists the Program Director of Aquatics with maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck and surrounding areas. Prevents accidents by maintaining observation of the pool area, enforcing health and safety rules and maintaining emergency readiness.
- Completes daily records and report on all pools and maintenance. Monitors daily chemical readings in pools and on chemical systems. Performs daily check on systems in pump rooms. Reports when chemical levels out of range and/or maintenance issues to Aquatics Director.
- Works with Program Director for Aquatics to schedule, communicate attendance requirements, set agendas and lead staff meetings and training on a monthly basis.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Responds to emergency situations as needed. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Keeping areas safe. Reports damaged equipment to Program Director for Aquatics.
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Current American Red Cross lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED and oxygen administration certifications.
- YMCA Swim Lesson V.6 Instructor Certification, within 90 days of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to assist children and others in the development of swimming skills.
- Ability to teach skills to others.
- Online Safe Lifting and Slips, Trip and Fall Training within 90 days.
- The Community YMCA New Team Member Orientation within 90 days.
- Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness.
