This is fostered by an environment of continuous learning and teamwork, which in turn allows us to work with our patients to achieve exceptional health outcomes.The Optometry Assistant helps to ensure the best possible eye care experience to our patients and to provide seamless support to a team of optometrists. The Optometry Assistant works within the optometry care team, under the supervision of the Director of Optometry, to prepare patients for exams, assist with frames selection, order glasses and contact lenses and arrange patient referrals.This is a PRN opportunity, meaning on an as-needed basis to fill gaps in the schedule. We are open Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Checks visual acuity and performs pretesting as directed by the doctor. Operates visual fields screening device. Accurately documents in patient record. Manages continuous patient flow by effectively communicating with team members and providers. Supports communication between patient and provider related to treatment instructions, questions patients may have regarding physician's orders, use of medications, and contact lenses. Schedules follow-up appointments and verifies appointment times with patients. Selects, dispenses and verifies prescriptions of visual appliances (i.e. frames, contact lenses). Responsible for minor frame repairs and adjustments. Disinfects and wipes down all equipment and instruments. Maintains patient's confidentiality; complies with HIPAA, Patient Privacy Policies. Adheres to OSHA policies and reports any perceived hazards to their supervisor or OSHA Safety Officer upon discovery. Attends OSHA and other training programs as required. Attends all regular Staff Meetings. Replenishes supplies as needed. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS High School diploma plus one or more years in optical or medical field. Strong organizational skills. Ability to operate specialized equipment to perform required pre-examination tests onpatients. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage their time. Accuracy and attention to detail. Availability to work all operational hours as needed. Must be punctual and maintain a good attendance record. Must comply with AC Wellness Occupational Health Policy, including requiredimmunizations.
