Summary Statement:Clinic CMAs are proficient in a multitude of administrative and clinical tasks, and are widely viewed by physicians as vital partners in increasing medical office productivity. Clinic CMAs provide patient care in the clinic setting working closely with doctors, specialists, and other care providers to deliver short- and long-term care to patients. The CMAs aid patients from the moment they enter the clinic by collecting patient information, documenting in the electronic health record answering telephones, updating and filing patient medical records, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admissions and auxiliary services. CMAs handle correspondence. CMAs prepare patients for examination, assist providers during the exam, and other tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse and the physicianESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITYa. Models positivity with all interactions, internally and externally, presenting the organization in a positive manner.b. Communicates any patient concerns or issues directly with their providerwhenever possible and consults immediately with their immediate supervisor if there is not a satisfactory resolution, and if there are any non-patient concerns or issues. Does not wait to be rounded on to share concerns.c. The Clinic CMA demonstrates positive teamwork, utilizes problem-solvingtechniques to prevent conflict and maintains a calm and safe environment for customers and staff. The CMA is responsible for assisting in the provision of clinic patient services and actively participating in the strategic planning process and the performance improvement process.d. Acts as a liaison between the hospital and local/consulting physician offices to foster cooperative relationships and problem solves issues regarding the clinic.e.
