It values people who can analyze problems and take rapid, decisive action. We have an immediate need for a Manufacturing Process Engineer in our McBee, SC facility. This position will be responsible for several job duties in, including (but not limited to):Primary FunctionAs a Manufacturing Process Engineer you will play a crucial role in developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes specifically tailored for our High Efficiency Commercial Water Heater products. Your responsibilities will include streamlining production methods, improving product quality, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production staff, and quality control personnel, to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance the efficiency and performance of our manufacturing process.Responsibilities Apply sound ergonomic and safety practices in all functions of manufacturing process, equipment, and facilities. Manages work activities of geographically dispersed cross-functional teams, create project plan, facilitate the plan and work (monitor and adjust), manage project risks, is accountable to leadership team and closes projects by delivering products that meet the value proposition and benefit the company. Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using data collection, analytical analysis, and experience to report out and make clear and informed decisions. Ensures project deliverables are completed on time and are of high quality, including business requirements and approval, and reports status to stakeholders in a timely manner. Coordinates the project plan activities including daily huddles, Andon's, knowledge gaps, manages use of technology tools to facilitate work, lead processes, communication, as well as lead the team through integration events to bring the larger cross-functional teams together. Evaluate new technologies and processes in support of improving manufacturing efficiencies, productivity, cost saving, and/or product quality. Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other consideration to facilitate production processes. Work closely in a team environment with engineers, supervisors and manufacturing personnel and promote company principles such as Quality and Lean Manufacturing. Support for all A.O. Smith manufacturing locations Other duties as assigned by Manager in support of Manufacturing OperationsQualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of five years work experience. Interest, formal studies, and/or experience dealing with the refrigeration cycle, air conditioning systems, and/or heat pumps in a manufacturing environment. Project management certification or extensive knowledge of or project management in a manufacturing environment preferred with familiarity with lean methodologies Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
