Description The division is seeking a well-qualified Pediatric Endocrinologist to complement the clinic and meet the community's need for additional pediatric endocrinology coverage There is significant need in our community for this service, as evidenced by an average wait time for new patient visits of two months. A new provider will be able to develop a large practice. The Valley Health System is one of the largest and most honored healthcare providers in New Jersey. The construction of The New Valley Hospital, due to be completed in late 2023, will be a 900,000 square foot state-of-the-art healthcare destination site on a 40-acre campus in Paramus. Valley offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, tertiary services in the areas of Oncology, Cardiology, Women & Children’s Services, Orthopedics and Neurosciences, as well as numerous specialty Institutes and services. Valley Medical Group location: 40 East Ridgewood Avenue, Suite N480, Paramus, NJ 07652 Position Description: The incoming pediatric endocrinologist will be providing care to patients in an outpatient only environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to work full-time within the clinic and be responsible for all general, pediatric endocrinology duties. The practice has a referral base of over 30 pediatricians. The state-of-the-art clinic is located on our new Medical Campus, across from our new Hospital, which will open in late 2023. The clinic has the following services offered on-site: testing center and a treatment and infusion room. Growth hormone testing is currently being done at the hospital across the street. The incoming pediatric endocrinologist will be afforded a flexible schedule that equates to 36 patient care hours and 4 hours for administrative duties. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. The clinic sees annual outpatient volumes of 3000 for pediatric endocrinology. On average, each pediatric endocrinologist is scheduled for 12-16 patient visits daily. The provider’s patient mix is made up of about 30% new patient visits and 70% patient follow-up visits. The clinic sees about 250 Type 1 Diabetes mellitus patients under care and had almost 700 growth failure consults in 2019. The incoming pediatric endocrinologist will have a support staff of two certified diabetic educators (CDE), part-time social workers, medical assistants, and registered nurses. If there are any specialized focuses that the incoming physician would like to develop, the team is open to those but the overall need to see all pediatric endocrinology cases remains the priority. Valley Medical Group has a relationship with Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine which allows for an opportunity to be involved in academics or research. This is not guaranteed as the incoming provider will have to meet Mount Sinai’s criteria for academic appointment and approval by their academic promotions committee. Almost all pediatric cases remain with the group with a rare exception of obscure metabolic issue referrals. The call rotation is shared amongst the group at 1:3, mainly telephone call only. Conditions treated: Type 1 and type 2 diabetes Obesity Growth disorders Thyroid and adrenal problems Delayed or precocious puberty Menstrual disorders Pituitary disorders Low blood sugar/ High blood pressure Calcium and bone disorders Polycystic ovarian syndrome Lipid disorders Position Qualifications: M.D or D.O from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy from a recognized institution Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Pediatrics Endocrinology A valid New Jersey State Medical license, DEA, and CDS is required. BLS, PALS required and ACLS preferred Maintains CME credit hours as required for Board Certification and/or hospital staff privileges.
