About Focus On Renewal:

The Focus On Renewal Sto-Rox Neighborhood Corporation (FOR) is an umbrella organization for much needed social services ranging from food security, nutrition, early-childhood education, support groups and mental health to arts programs for all ages and small business incubation. Focus On Renewal employs 30+ staff at four locations throughout McKees Rocks and Stowe Townships. We work with a wide range of partners to ensure high quality programming is accessible to all 13,000 residents of the Sto-Rox Community. Job Requirements

The Compliance Officer plays a vital role in upholding the integrity of the organization, ensuring the safety of its members, and maintaining adherence to policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy and Procedure Oversight:
  • Develop, implement, and review organizational policies and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Regularly update policies to reflect changes in laws or organizational needs.
Safety and Risk Management:
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks across all organizational activities.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, emergency response plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with safety standards and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address potential hazards.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay current on local, state, and federal regulations affecting the not-for-profit sector.
  • Ensure the organization's activities align with all relevant laws and regulations, including reporting requirements.
Training and Education:
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff and volunteers on compliance, safety, and risk management practices.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and safety awareness throughout the organization.
Monitoring and Auditing:
  • Conduct regular internal audits to assess compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide reports and recommendations for corrective actions to relevant departments.
Incident Response and Investigation:
  • Lead investigations into compliance concerns, safety incidents, or allegations of wrongdoing.
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to address issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive system for documenting compliance activities, safety measures, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping to demonstrate compliance to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
Reporting:
  • Prepare and submit regular compliance reports to senior leadership and relevant governing bodies.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance matters.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, business, compliance).
  • Proven experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an urban environment and with diverse audiences
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver's license, have reliable transportation and be able to provide all necessary clearances
  • Ability to sell ideas, influence audiences and negotiate terms that favor the organization
