Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) or Speech Therapist, you will carry out individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive and/or swallowing impairments. You will assess, treat, plan, implement, educate, and communicate to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals and discharge plans. You will supervise therapy aides and students.
- You will perform comprehensive patient assessments and establish appropriate treatment goals and programs for patients in Acute care, Inpatient Rehab, and/or Outpatient.
- You will coordinate the treatment program with other clinical/therapeutic services.
- You will develop comprehensive goals for treatment to maximize patient outcomes.
- You will deliver care and modify the care plan in accordance with the patients needs.
- You will serve as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.
- You will maintain records of services provided.
Experience
- Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies
Education
- Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent discipline
Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. Davids Healthcare policy
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or current Clinical Fellowship Plan approved by ASHA preferred

The facility is home to St. Davids Childrens Hospital, St. Davids Womens Center of Texas featuring a Level III NICU, a Kidney Transplant Center, and the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery. Additional servicesoffered at this medical center include 24-hour emergency care, heart and vascular care, neurology andneurosurgery, rehabilitation services, and inpatient and outpatient surgery.
