Job Type: Part-Time (40 to 48 hours bi-weekly)
Shift: Varies - 1st & 2nd Shifts, Includes Weekend & Holiday Rotation, and Covers Schedule Vacancies

Job Description:
Fulton County Health Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented SPD Technician / SPD Certified Surgical Technician to join our Sterile Processing Department (SPD) team on a part-time basis. In this critical role, you will ensure that all surgical instruments and equipment are meticulously cleaned, inspected, and sterilized to prevent infection and support the highest standards of patient care. You will collaborate closely with the LPN Shift Supervisor, fellow SPD Technicians, and other departments to deliver efficient and timely service throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, clean, assemble, and prepare surgical instrumentation and equipment for sterilization.
  • Supervise and ensure that all equipment is properly cleaned, inspected, and processed for use in the facility.
  • Work collaboratively with the LPN Shift Supervisor and other SPD Technicians to provide efficient service to all departments.
  • Assist in tracking inventory, reviewing, recording, and recovering charges through the facility's computer system.
  • Record information related to infection control and participate in performance improvement activities within the department.
  • May be responsible for handling SPD responsibilities of the morgue.
  • Supervise the department on a shift-to-shift basis as needed, consulting the LPN Shift Supervisor or SPD Department Manager as necessary.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital, surgery center, Sterile Processing, Central Service, or Surgery Department preferred.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred, but willing to train.
  • CST must be a graduate from an accredited school with current certification through NBSTSA.
  • CRCST must be certified through HSPA or CBSPD, or must successfully complete a Sterile Processing Technician course within 1 year of service.
  • Must maintain competency by completing the minimum required hours of continuing education courses for certification renewal.
  • Ability to stand for 90% of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push or pull 150 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include intricate instrument inspection, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
