To help us accomplish this, we are seeking a qualified Molecular Research Lead . This position will be located in Lowell, OR. The Fall Creek Molecular Research Lead is responsible for developing and executing innovative Molecular Research and Bioinformatics methods that support Fall Creek to achieve world-class product excellence in berry breeding and nursery operations. This position reports to the Molecular Research Manager and regularly works with the Breeding team. The role will lead projects and on some occasions a team of collaborators. What you'll do at Fall Creek: Develop, implement, and execute high through-put marker-assisted breeding pipeline and associated technologies for berry crops. Manage research projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results. Develop and implement improved methods for high through-put DNA extraction, PCR, and DNA sequencing. Utilize bioinformatics tools for DNA sequence analysis and leverage insights for DNA-based marker development. Collaborate with external partners, design experiments, and prepare reports. Maintain detailed records and documentation of experiments and procedures. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in berry genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. Coordinate research projects and delegate tasks in order to achieve the objectives. Responsible for ensuring work is completed in a safe and respectful manner. Participate in department and company meetings and events. What you bring to Fall Creek: Typically requires a Ph.D. degree in either Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Molecular biology, Biology, Computational biology, Horticulture, Plant Biotechnology, or related field. Requires 5-10 years’ experience in a related field with references. Demonstrated skill in bioinformatic workflows and familiarity with bioinformatics tools. Knowledge of gene/QTL discovery techniques and molecular marker development strategies. Experience with genomic research and CRISPR/Cas gene-editing laboratory techniques. Excellent work ethics and comply with FC values – humility, integrity, excellence, and passion. Highly organized and with a high attention to detail. Ability to meet the demands of the position.
