Successful candidate will join CAIRE’s Electrical Engineering team, at the global headquarters in Georgia. This individual will work on CAIRE’s oxygen therapy medical devices, with a focus on electronic embedded system design, as part of larger cross-disciplinary electro-mechanical design teams. This mid-to-senior level electrical engineer will integrate into the full product life cycle, from design and development to transfer to manufacturing and sustaining activities. Your Education Should Be… Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent. Your Professional Skills and Experience … At least five years’ professional experience in PCBA Hardware Development Proficient utilizing electrical CAD packages for Schematic entry and design, such as Altium, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, or similar. Experience with serial communication protocols, such as RS-232, I2C, SPI, USB Prototyping electrical assemblies Testing and troubleshooting utilizing multimeter and oscilloscope Ability to debug firmware running on PCBA hardware, using oscilloscope and other lab equipment Basic software programming knowledge, such as using languages such as C/C++ Ability to work well in a team environment Good communication skills, both written and oral Relevant experience could include … Experience with electrical system architecture and design for embedded systems using microcontrollers Experience with control systems, such as brushless DC motor control and electro-pneumatic systems Experience with power management (AC and battery power) for low voltage devices Analog and digital sensor integration and measurement, such as temperature, pressure, flow, timing PCB Layout experience, using Altium or similar Soldering PCB surface-mount components, for prototyping and troubleshooting, such as size 0603, 0402 Experience implementing wireless solutions for Bluetooth, WIFI, and/or LTE Firmware and/or software development experience, may include C/C++/C# Experience with Medical Device ISO 13485, FDA design controls or similar regulatory environment such as military or automotive What Your Day-to-Day Activities May Include… Develop electrical embedded systems for electro-mechanical medical devices with the cross functional design team Develop solutions that meet system design specs, utilizing programmable hardware and microcontrollers interfacing analog and digital sensors, user interface display and controls, motor control, and electro-pneumatic systems control with pressure feedback Hardware development, including design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting Develop control and power management solutions to maximize power consumption, system reliability and performance. Develop test and diagnostics test hardware to support bench testing, production testing and field service Perform electrical component selection and create PCB schematics. Perform and/or oversee PCBA layout. Review and evaluation of product design through informal and formal design reviews as well as through design verification test plans and reports. Evaluation and documentation of product non-conformances, root-cause analysis, and implement design improvements. Sustain existing products, which may include identifying alternates for EOL components, design improvements, cost down efforts Mentor less experienced engineers Work with electrical and mechanical engineers to develop new test equipment and capabilities for new product launches, and support existing test solutions Support manufacturing personnel when product electronic troubleshooting is required. Your Physical Work Environment Will Require Ability to work in an office and lab environment. This position will require the ability to move around the engineering lab and production floor to address production issues relating to products and equipment. Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 8 hrs/day.
