Project Manager

Overview GC&E Federal is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the installation of structured cabling infrastructure. The Project Manager will be responsible for complete cabling installations and supervision of assigned installation crews, ensuring all projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in EIA/TIA and NEC standards, and skilled at managing teams, schedules, and budgets while maintaining strong communication with customers and stakeholders. Responsibilities Review project scope, preliminary schedules, labor allotments, and other details with operations management and account managers prior to project start. Serve as the primary on-site contact with customers and/or general contractor personnel. Arrange site access, personnel identification, parking, deliveries, storage, and working hour requirements. Schedule tasks and manage manpower to ensure efficient and productive installations. Request and secure all necessary materials as outlined on the Bill of Materials (BOM). Ensure all required tools and special equipment are available for installation. Communicate project issues and resolutions with operations management and sales staff. Enforce safety programs, conduct on-site safety meetings, and ensure compliance with safety equipment requirements. Perform daily quality control checks for compliance with codes, standards, and aesthetic requirements. Track and obtain inspections as required by low-voltage permitting jurisdictions. Ensure testing and documentation requirements are met, including submission of test results, as-built drawings, daily logs, and other deliverables. Oversee structured cabling installations across all media in new and existing facilities. Interpret and follow base building and electrical blueprints. Lead and manage installation crews to maximize efficiency and profitability. Test, troubleshoot, and document cable installations and telephony systems. Build out telecom and equipment rooms as required. Ensure adherence to BICSI standards, NEC, and applicable local codes. Maintain professional communication and relationships with customers. Keep updated documentation of project progress, labor hours, materials, and related data. Report project changes, issues, or concerns to assigned contacts. Conduct site surveys and attend project planning and progress meetings as required. Qualifications & Expertise Education: Some college preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: 8+ years in structured cabling installation and project management, with at least 12 years as a successful Lead Technician. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of EIA/TIA cabling standards and NEC codes. Knowledge of fire stopping requirements and applications. Ability to field design and engineer installation details. Proficiency with copper and fiber certification test equipment. Skilled in structured cabling installation and termination. Moderate PC proficiency in Excel, Word, and MS Project. Soft Skills: Excellent supervisory and time management abilities. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to manage crews effectively and ensure profitability. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. Specialized Skills: Comprehensive safety training for jobsite conditions. Certification in use of personnel lifts and powder-actuated tools. Valid drivers license with ability to meet screening requirements. Preferred Qualifications BICSI Technician certification, or equivalent training + experience. Confined space entry certification. Other Requirements Ability to work remotely, requiring a distraction-free workspace and reliable internet connectivity. Effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders in both remote and on-site settings. Up to 50% travel may be required for meetings, training, or project-related needs. Flexibility to manage dynamic priorities and evolving organizational goals. Pre-employment drug testing and background check may be required.
