Overview:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform maintenance and machining operations for division facilities and support directorate programs including maintaining the preventive maintenance schedule and service and repair of test stands. Be a member of a highly specialized team in the division supporting the test and evaluation of solid rocket motors, warheads, arm-fire devices, fuzes, and related ordnance components of U.S. Army missile systems.
  • Perform machining tasks on a variety of different materials including metal components, polymeric materials, solid propellants, and explosives.
  • Perform precision weight and dimensional measurement of test specimens using dial calipers and analytical balances prior to physical testing of propellants.
  • Perform equipment installation and calibration.
  • Establish operational procedures for electro-mechanical or servo-hydraulic test equipment.
  • Properly dispose of hazardous waste generated during machining or testing.
  • Perform operations involving explosives and hazardous chemicals while using provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
  • Must have completed HS/GED.
  • Successful graduation from a formalized apprenticeship program in machining/fabrication or a 2-year Trade School Program, and have 3 years of experience in machine/fabrication shop operations to include mill and lathe operations.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
