Professional Engineer (Special Projects & Water)

Section 1 Position Summary

Assists in all matters pertaining to water resources, including coordinating raw water pumping operations, monitoring lake and river levels and maintaining raw water accounting plans. Acts as a project manager for assigned projects in the Water System. Responsible for generating and maintaining assigned operational and regulatory reports.

Section 2 Major Responsibilities

1. Participatee in Engineering design meetings, studies and construction progress meetings.
2. Generates assigned operational and regulatory reports, including the Consumption Report and TCEQ Surface Water Reports.
3. Acts as a liaison between Water System Operations and NTMWD Management.
4. Coordinates implementation of the NTMWD Raw Water Operations Plan with Water System Operations staff.
5. Assisst with implementation of the NTMWD Water Resource and Emergency Management Plan.
6. Serve as project manager for assigned projects in the Water System.
7. Collects and compiles Water System information for distribution to the Engineering Department and outside entities.
8. Assists in preparation of the Water Systems annual budgets.
9. Participates in the development of strategic water system initiatives.
10. Serves as a liaison with the public, Member and Customer Cities, prospective water customers, and agency partners as requested during the execution of responsibilities.
11. Present information on Water System activities to various groups as requested.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Section 3 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Professional Engineering Registration in the State of Texas.
2. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and management software.
3. Understanding of water principles and processes.

Section 4 Education and Experience

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other related field received from an accredited college or university.
2. Experience reading and interpreting technical documents.
3. Requires a valid Texas Drivers License.

Section 5 Environmental Factors, Activity Levels and Equipment

Moderate physical labor and considerable mental attention required with some eyestrain. Generally desirable conditions with some outside visits to work-sites with varying environmental conditions. Considerable time can be spent working with and viewing a computer screen. Considerable time viewing plans, specifications and reading reports and correspondence. Time will be spent at construction sites, traversing rough terrain, climbing stairs and ladders to access structures. Equipment used includes calculators, computers and some field survey equipment.
