Job Description About Us: The Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) has provided the highest level of specialized small animal health care to our community since 2004. We grew out of a well-established, AAHA accredited, primary care clinic originally started in this location in 1967. Over the past 20 years, we have grown into one of the largest small animal emergency and specialty hospitals in the state. Our facility offers services in cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, and emergency and critical care. We have a team of board-certified specialists and emergency doctors committed to providing quality care to all patients. In 2015, NIVES became the only veterinary hospital in the state of Indiana to be certified as a Level II Critical Care Facility. This certification deems our hospital qualified to care for and treat even the most life-threatening cases. Our advanced diagnostic capabilities allow our doctors to diagnose and treat complicated medical conditions. These diagnostics include digital radiography, ultrasonography, electrocardiography, and computed tomography (CT). We are seeking future veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 6-month training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable. The Ethos ER Immerse Training Program The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation-based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician. Program Duration/Commitment * 6-month training program beginning June 2025 * 1-year commitment as an ER clinician following training Location * Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital - 5818 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835 Program Highlights * 5-day work week consisting of 4 clinical days, 1 didactic day, and 2 days off each week * Paired with a specific mentor and will mirror the same schedule for first 3 months * After month 3, you are allowed to transition to swings depending on comfort level, no overnights until approved by your mentor and hospital leadership * Surgical training with board-certified surgeons * You will be certified as a RESCUER through our RECOVER certified instructor * Competency-based curriculum that includes asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds * Regular live continuing education events led by specialists and experienced emergency doctors Want to know more?
