JOB TITLE: Human Resource Assistant
REPORTS TO: Human Resource Manager
SUMMARY
Assists with company-wide day-to-day human resource operations. Provides functional guidance for human resources administrative support needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain employee HR/Payroll Database, new hire processing, new hire data entry, file setup and maintenance.
- Monitor employee data, field communication for missing info, field communication with codes for timesheet.
- Submit New Hire Report.
- Data entry and monitor background checks, forward results to HR Generalist and Manager for adjudication.
- None
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to respond promptly to customer needs and requests for service and assistance.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Ability to consistently arrive at work on time on scheduled work days, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
- One or more year's related experience and/or training preferred
- Experience within the Maritime industry preferred
- Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations preferred
- Ability to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish preferred
- Most work performed in office environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Computer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, adding machine, scanner
- May be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions
