Child Nutrition Manager

Job Summary Responsible for supervision of evening activities including, but not limited to, closing center, preparing for next day, and ensuring pickup of all children. Basic Responsibilities Oversee the operation of the food service program for YWCA Central Alabama Child Development Center. Preparation of all meals and snacks for YWCA Central Alabama Child Development Center. Plan menus and prepare food as required by YWCA Central Alabama Child Development Center. Ensure that meal service occurs at scheduled times. Accurately and timely complete all required paperwork. Ensure the daily cleaning of dishes, utensils, counter tops, preparation, and appliance surfaces. Maintain working knowledge of the requirements of the USDA Child Care Food Program and Health Department requirements. Periodic cleaning of the refrigerator, stove, oven, freezer, and cabinets. Supervise staff and manage performance development. Attend staff meetings, as directed. All other duties deemed necessary from time to time for the operation of the organization. Education and Experience Child Nutrition, Culinary, or food preparation, preferred. Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Ability to read and follow instructions. Ability to use kitchen utensils and equipment. Desirable food preparation and cooking skills. Meet DHR and Health Department requirements. Able to regularly lift 30 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and spend long periods of time standing. Physical Requirements / Working Environment The person in this position works full time Monday through Friday within the Childcare Center of YWCA Central Alabama, located in downtown Birmingham. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, use hands, kneel or crouch, bending or stooping, and use a computer, periodically. The person may need to lift or carry up to 50 lbs. Individuals qualified for this position must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
