Our team accomplishes this by defining frameworks and best practices for operating applications, building tooling, and providing training and consulting services./ppAffirm is scaling fast, and this role will help ensure our platforms resilience as we keep operating across multiple regions/ppstrongWhat Youll Do:/strong/pulliYou will be responsible for owning and delivering quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers on your team through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensuring that everyone is supported throughout delivery./liliYou will support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design analytics by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs./liliYou will proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them./liliYou will support the operations and availability of your teams artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting keep the lights on on-call efforts./liliYou will foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting or improving code review and design standards for your team, and advocating for them beyond your team through your writing and tech talks./liliYou will help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example./liliOn-Call Rotation - There would be an on-call rotation for this role as a requirement./li/ulpstrongWhat We Look For:/strong/pulliYou have a total of 5+ years of experience as a software engineer./liliYou are experienced in designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL./liliLeverage Kubernetes expertise for cloud compute orchestration and troubleshoot/liliComprehensive traffic management to ensure scalable, reliable, and high-performance platform operations (specially for AWS environment)/liliYou have experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue./liliEnsure high availability (HA) and resilience of critical services through runbooks, incident response strategies, and post-mortem analysis./liliPartner with Observability and Reliability teams to proactively detect and mitigate potential outages. You have experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design. You write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others./liliAutomate operational tasks, deployments, failover processes, and scaling strategies to reduce manual intervention. You are proficient at making significant changes in a large code base, and have developed a suite of tools and practices that enable you and your team to do so safely./liliPartner closely with Storage Replication, Cloud, CI/CD, and Security teams to ensure Affirms infrastructure meets high operational standards.
