Controls Engineer III (Tooling) Overview: Join our dedicated team of engineers at our cutting-edge facility in Merritt Island, Florida, where we are shaping the future of space exploration. As a Controls Engineer III specializing in tooling, you will play a crucial role in supporting production and manufacturing groups by designing and implementing automated production machinery. Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and maintain automated equipment for aerospace vehicle production. Support tooling control projects from inception through commissioning. Troubleshoot controls-related issues in real-time to ensure uninterrupted production. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop controls processes and standards. Provide rapid turnaround for specialty equipment requests and emergent needs. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, Automation, or a related field. 5+ years of experience designing tooling or equipment for aerospace hardware manufacturing. Proficiency with PLC programming/debugging and software such as Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell. Strong understanding of electrical systems operating at low and medium voltage levels. Experience with automated industrial machinery and electro-mechanical systems. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse teams. Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylum seeker. Desired: Familiarity with control systems standards such as IEC 61131 and NFPA 79. Experience with high-level programming languages like Python or C#. Excellent technical writing and presentation skills. Knowledge of process automation equipment and tooling.
