Join the Maintenance and Reliability group at our Commerce City refinery, which is the largest refinery in the Rocky Mountain region and the only petroleum refinery in Colorado. We have a great opportunity for a Senior Instrument Reliability Engineer. As part of a busy team of experienced professionals, you will provide the technical support necessary to ensure reliable and efficient operations. You will lead the charge for meeting reliability targets and asset improvement through the application of Operational Discipline, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Suncor's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) programs while upholding engineering and industry best practices, adhering to Suncor’s technical standards, and applicable codes.

Minimum Requirements: 5+ years of relevant professional experience in heavy industrial settings, preferably in the refining or petrochemicals sector

Bachelor's degree in engineering

Knowledge in specifying instruments, automation & control systems,

creation/modification

of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) design documents, installation and commission of equipment

Develop instrumentation strategies for entire asset lifecycles

Ability to apply the foundational elements of reliability

Experience with Root Cause Analysis investigations and Fault Tree Analysis

Ability to work with and influence stakeholders on technical decisions

Training in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification with prior work history illustrating practical application would be considered an asset

Previous experience with SAP (for reporting, history and recommendation), or GE's Asset Performance Management (APM) software would be considered an asset

A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Must be legally authorized to work in the USA for the duration of your employment

Responsibilities: Ensure integrity of instrumentation is maintained and improved

Monitor and measure asset condition and ensure asset performance and strategy effectiveness measurements are fully integrated into asset strategies and maintenance programs

Analyze equipment performance testing reports to identify and implement opportunities for improvement in equipment strategies

Identify repetitive failures and develop Reliability Improvement Plans to remedy their causes through the application of failure analysis techniques and site impact evaluations

Act as technical expert for field maintenance personnel and operations during repair work

Provide mentorship to other Instrument Engineers

Perform quality control and/or quality assurance tasks for repair work and new installations

Develop maintenance strategy using Asset Criticality Ranking (ACR)

Ensure instrumentation testing intervals meet governmental regulatory requirements in collaboration with Environmental and Legal teams

Look for ways to streamline processes and simplify how data is gathered

Location and other Key Details: You will work out of our Commerce City Refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

Comfortable working in the refinery, which includes climbing ladders and working at heights

Salary and Compensation Details: $115,000 to $150,000 annual salary and an annual incentive (bonus) program
