Responsibilities of Admissions Director: Manages leads in all referral sources, reviewing documentation of potential new admissions ensuring appropriate, timely responses on behalf of the facility. Authority to approve admissions based on facility admission criteria and bed availability. Maintain/Foster referral source relationships and supports the implementation of the organization’s marketing plan. Ensures financial verification is accurate and complete before the patient is admitted to the facility. Obtain authorizations as needed/ Maintaining a working knowledge of managed care referral process. Build and increase the total volume of inquiries and facility referral base to meet/exceed budgeted census goals. Maintains accurate daily updates on the Marketing Information System ensuring all data elements are inputted so that reports can be generated on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Maintain a close working relationship with the DON, BOM, NHA and SW to assure appropriate and efficient decisions about prospective admissions. Work with Marketing/Hospital Liaison to determine need for potential on-sites/maintain on-going relationships. Oversee Room Readiness with the Housekeeping Supervisor/Director of Environmental services. Keeps accurate records and creates reports of activities and outcomes on a daily/weekly basis. Conducts the admission process of signing in and explaining admission policies to patients and their families. Ensures a smooth transition is achieved and that all paperwork is complete upon admission. Emphasizes financial arrangements and responsibilities. Requirements of Admissions Director: High school diploma or equivalent. Two-Five years’ experience in a skilled nursing environment, customer service, admissions focused. Experience in working with vulnerable adult population or equivalent. Able to understand and follow written and verbal directions/ Proficiency in written and spoken English. To work as part of a team and function independently. Knowledge of area hospitals and other local healthcare organizations preferred but willing to train. Fundamental knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and skilled nursing facility operations. Demonstrates strong communication and relationship building skills with residents and can explain residents’ needs to others as needed for resident advocacy.
