The BalCon Salesman/Estimator will estimate and bid plan and spec and/or negotiated air and water balancing, work to include T & M estimates. He or she will also work with mechanical, sheet metal, general contractors, private owners and all customers to ensure they receive BalCon proposals in a timely fashion. The BalCon Salesman will act as the liaison between balancing technicians, customers, and management to ensure project related issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.Scope: The BalCon Salesman/ Estimator will secure plans either directly through customers, owners and Engineering Firms or filter plans through All available sources (Example: Lincoln Builders Bureau and ISQFT plan services, State of Iowa DAS system, Submittal Exchange) download and store plans and specifications, estimate and fax or e-mail proposals to appropriate contractors or customers. He or She will also ensure BalCon projects are successfully completed to include completion of billing and project issues are resolved.Responsibilities: Work with BalCon Manager / NEBB CP/ Supervisors to facilitate continued growth and development for the BalCon division and its employees. Responsible for estimating and bidding all testing and balancing work. Meet with technicians to coordinate project details before technicians leave to brief technicians and resolve project issues. Assist in determining projected manpower and material requirements for projects relative to the capabilities of the available field personnel and the planned or promised completion date / time. Complete contract/work files with appropriate job documentation and turn over to assist BalCon Admins and Supervisors with technician scheduling. Ensure manpower can safely, efficiently, and cost effectively complete projects on time. Contract/purchase order reviews, including completing certificates of insurance forms, organizing and researching addendums, change orders and project specifications. Assist in determining job progress on all bid work on a weekly basis to ensure labor hours are on track with the schedule and projected bid amount. Communicate with BalCon Manager or Supervisors for assistance with project issues as needed. Conduct outside sales to all potential customers including trade shows and customer events. Attending project onsite meetings, and site inspections, relaying information to the appropriate BalCon personnel. Conduct on-site rooftop inspections for estimating purposes Actively pursuing NEBB certification to enhance industry expertise and professional qualifications Obtain and provide all possible project details to include project balancing specifications, complete drawings, customer contact info and any special project information (specialized tools, etc.) Customer follow-ups and visits on a regular basis to ensure customer satisfaction.Experience: Three years related experience or applicable educational background as HVAC Sales, mechanical HVAC project management or similar experience.Skills: Must be able to review mechanical HVAC plans and specifications to assemble an estimate, proposal and action plan. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-motivated, extroverted, tactful, organized, collaborative, results and goal-oriented professional. Driven by a desire to satisfy customers and provide a high level of customer relations skills. Computer literate with good working knowledge of office products, equipment, and procedures. Ability to communicate and sell services, as well as equipment and systems. Capable of successfully closing the sales agreement and following up to assure sustainable strong customer relationships.Education/Qualifications: Engineering Associate or equivalent professional experience. Professional and industry-specific certifications and licenses.Physical & Mental Requirements: Must be able to life 25-30 lbs. / sit for long periods of time / type / hear / see / speak English clearly / operate business equipment. Must be able to read / write / spell & calculate. Must be able to understand and follow written instructions, communicate effectively orally and written, and must be able to listen effectively. Must possess prioritizing / organizational / multitasking and stress management skills. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be able to climb industrial ladders, walk on rooftops, and conduct jobsite walk downs as part of regular job duties.
