Associate Professor - LPN program

Location: Nashua Community College

CCSNH has established employer status within the New England states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). In compliance with CCSNH policies and state regulations, eligibility for employment within CCSNH and its institutions requires residency within a New England state.

SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students in current nursing and LPN methodology and to coordinate departmental activities including developing and evaluating curricula, advising students develop and other program, departmental, and institutional activities that advance the mission of the college. This position is located at Nashua Community College in Nashua, NH and shall report to the Department Chair Allied Health River Valley Community College.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Teaches assigned coursesin a classroom, laboratory, and/or clinic /field experiences setting as appropriate for the nursing and LPN program.
  • Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development of instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, clearly define course goals, observe program and institutional accreditations standards, promote critical thinking and life skills, and responds to diverse academic needs.
  • Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs, advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters, and exercises professional judgment in referring students to appropriate personnel.
  • Supervises student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these for students.
  • Coordinates departmental activities and operations by developing credit and non-credit programs and/or courses, sharing teaching and learning methodologies with peers, serving as an academic resource, cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with business and industry within the field of nursing, providing leadership in the development of articulation initiatives, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, and requisitioning instructional equipment supplies or classroom materials.
  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of college sponsored recruitment and retention activities including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, and aware ceremonies and/or advising student activity groups, as assigned.
  • Engages in professional activities related to the area of nursing that partner the college with the wider community by serving on college or system teams, or participating in community-sponsored events, as assigned.
  • Remains technologically and pedagogically current within the field of nursing through participation in relevant professional associations and educational & training activities. Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations/communication.
  • Observes all academic policies, procedures, institutional rules, and regulations; demonstrates ethical and professional behavior; and serves on and leads college system committees, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's degree in Nursing degree from a regionally accredited college or university or possession of a master's degree in public health, health care administration/leadership, health promotion, or another related health care or education discipline and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Experience: Five (5) years of teaching experience in the field Nursing or five (5) years of experience as a registered nurse.

OR

Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.

Experience: Six (6) years of teaching experience in the field of Nursing or five (5) years of experience as a registered nurse.

Licensure/Certifications: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse within the State of New Hampshire. Must meet the continuing education requirements by the above Board of Nursing to maintain continuing licensure.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience and knowledge in nursing education with responsibility for curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Thorough knowledge of teaching methods and materials, problems and subject matter as relates to course of instruction. Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in instruction. Knowledge of educational standards and procedures. Ability to work with and secure the cooperation of others. Ability to maintain comprehensive records of the progress and development of the individual student. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with others. Ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships. Ability to evaluate student progress and provide guidance to both students and instructors. Ability to work effectively with businesses and community organizations. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
