THE OPPORTUNITY Imperva is looking for a creative, dynamic and results driven pricing and business analyst to help us optimize pricing, packaging and licensing programs for the entire Imperva product, subscription, and services portfolio. Imperva recently launched a central Pricing and Packaging strategy team. This team is responsible for setting pricing for newly introduced products, managing pricing through an offerings lifecycle, identifying and creating bundles to optimize revenue, and defining overall licensing programs. The pricing analyst will report to directly to the Vice President of Pricing. In this capacity, the pricing analyst will work closely with product marketing, product management, finance, and sales to analyze customer buying behaviors, assess competitive pricing strategies, and ultimately recommend optimizations to existing pricing and packaging and/or recommend entirely new pricing strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recommend both tactical and strategic pricing strategies -- based upon fact-based analysis to the business that result in increased sales, profit and/or market share
  • Evaluate the marketplace and competitive data to optimally align pricing strategies within the marketplace
  • Hands-on data mining and data analysis to identify pricing opportunities, perform what-if analysis for potential pricing actions, and to assess success/failure of specific pricing changes
  • Conduct primary market research, and perform pricing experiments, to better understand customer needs and willingness to pay
  • Support periodic reporting to track pricing strategy KPIs, measure the success of pricing actions, and to identify opportunities for further optimization
  • Mentor and coach the product teams, sales, and finance on pricing strategy best practices, and to ensure they understand their roles within the overall pricing big picture
  • Provide strong leadership across other business functions to ensure changes result in sustainable value creation

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of combined experience in business analysis, pricing, or strategic marketing
  • Highly analytical and able to create data sets that will provide robust, sound evidence to prove or disprove recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to derive insights from large and complex sets of business data
  • Ability to prepare and present data in an accurate, clear, concise and insightful way that assists senior management in decision making
  • Experience with price setting, deal prices, pricing analytics
  • Experience conducting primary market research, both internally and in conjunction with contractors, consultants and market research firms
  • Experience working across core business functions, such as marketing, finance, or sales
  • A tenacious, hands-on mentality, capable of executing under pressure

Familiar with perpetual and subscription business models. Experience transitioning from perpetual to subscription a major plus.
