Presque Isle, ME - FT/Days - Temp-to-Hire Opportunity

Job Description:

Full-time opening for a Press Operator with a well-established business. Excellent daytime shift - good opportunity for an experienced machine operator. Full-time/Days; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; $17.00 - $19.00/hr.

The Press Operator will control production machinery designed to fabricate and assemble paper bags, containers, and similar products. Employee will be responsible for operating machinery in a safe and efficient manner while meeting set production standards for product quality and volume. Ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of previous machine operator experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and observe various mechanisms on production equipment to ensure proper function.
  • Examine completed work for defects and adjust machinery as necessary to correct production problems.
  • Disassemble machines to maintain, repair, or replace broken or worn parts, using hand or power tools.
  • Start machines and move controls to regulate tension on pressure rolls, to synchronize speed of machine components.
  • Place rolls of paper or cardboard on machine feed tracks, and thread paper through gluing, coating, and slitting rollers.
  • Stamp products with information such as dates, using hand stamps or automatic stamping devices.
  • Fill glue and paraffin reservoirs and position rollers to dispense glue onto paperboard.
  • Cut products to specified dimensions, using hand or power cutters.
  • Load automatic stapling mechanisms.
  • Sort and remove finished product for packing and shipment.
  • Keep accurate records of production output and submit reports on time.
  • Notify supervisor or plant management if machinery requires extensive repairs or replacement parts to function properly.
  • Alert management of potential hazards or safety concerns on the job site.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Two or more years of experience working as a machine operator. Production-oriented experience highly valued.
  • Working knowledge of common hand tools; ability to perform simple mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to stand on concrete floors for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.


Schedule: Full-time/Days; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00/hr., depending on experience.
