About the job Civil Project Manager

Overview:

Oversee all aspects of Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Design for site development projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements. Provide technical expertise and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the efficient and cost-effective development of new sites and improvements to existing locations.

Major Functions:

  • Manage the development of preliminary and final civil engineering plans through external consultants.
  • Provide guidance on project direction, conceptual and preliminary plans, and final designs.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and municipal codes for permitting and construction.
  • Optimize site-specific design to minimize costs and construction time while considering geotechnical and environmental factors.
  • Expedite resolution of permitting issues and collaborate with construction staff during project execution.
  • Evaluate prospective sites and provide engineering insights for real estate negotiations.
  • Travel to assess market practices and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Create and maintain detailed cost estimates and internal approval packages.
  • Coordinate with various departments to address design concerns and capture project costs.
  • Directly manage and maintain relationships with civil and geotechnical consultants.
  • Review and assess geotechnical engineering reports to inform design decisions.
  • Resolve engineering issues during store development and address operational concerns.
  • Assess and mitigate project risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to enhance civil engineering standards and processes.
  • Maintain documentation and drafting standards in accordance with industry best practices.
Position in Organization:

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Directly supervises: Civil and Geotechnical Engineering Consultants

Indirectly supervises: Civil Designers, Environmental Consultants, Surveyors, and Contractors

Position Specifications:

Required education:
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
Required experience:
  • 7 years in Engineering Design, Cost Analysis, and Project Management
  • Civil Engineering & Project Managment
  • Cost Analysis & Cost Estimating
  • Permitting experience
  • Knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Land Development Engineering Design.
  • Experience managing multiple projects independently.
Required skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office, strong communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
Desired education:
  • Masters degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Desired experience:
  • Ten years of Civil Design and Project Management, PE registration preferred.
Desired skills:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Software.
