We are a high-performance precision tooling and custom automation manufacturer, located in Shelby Township, MI. We're seeking a highly skilled and innovative Advanced Controls Engineer to join our engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and contribute to the development of state-of-the-art control systems for a diverse range of automated solutions.

Responsibilities: Design and implement advanced control systems with a focus on robustness, efficiency, and scalability. Develop and optimize interpolated moves and synchronous motion control strategies for precision and reliability in high-speed applications. Engineer Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) control techniques to enhance system performance and energy efficiency. Integrate robotic control interfaces for seamless communication and coordination between robotic systems and control platforms. Utilize GX Works 3 for programming, configuration, and troubleshooting of Mitsubishi control systems. Employ programming languages such as Ladder Logic (Ladder), Function Block Diagram with Ladder Diagram (FBD-LD), and Structured Text (ST) for clear, efficient, and maintainable code. Design and manage structured data types and modular programming practices to streamline project development and facilitate code reuse. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, solve complex automation challenges, and deliver customized, innovative solutions.

Must-Have Skills: Deep understanding of advanced motion concepts and experience with interpolated moves. Expertise in synchronous motion control, particularly with cams. Proficiency in VFD control techniques. Strong background in robotic control interfaces. Knowledge of various industrial communication protocols. Skills in designing intuitive and user-friendly HMI screens. Mastery of GX Works 3 and solid programming skills in Ladder, FBD-LD, and Structured Text. Demonstrated experience with modular programming. Experience with cloud-based technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms.

Nice to Have: Understanding of machine learning algorithms and AI. Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Python, C++. Circuit design and analysis skills. Knowledge of energy management strategies and sustainable practices. Familiarity with international standards and regulations. Proficiency in simulation software and virtualization tools.
