Description: Under minimal supervision, performs repairs, calibration, testing, and maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment and systems to ensure safe and appropriate operations. Executes scheduled preventive maintenance and maintains documentation of all service events, tests, and corrective maintenance performed on a wide range of imaging technologies.Essential Functions:- Repairs, installs, maintains, calibrates, and inspects diagnostic imaging systems. Uses knowledge and experience to test and maintain imaging equipment not having specific maintenance procedures. Inventories and completes documentation for entry into automated Maintenance Management Systems.- Performs preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of diagnostic imaging technologies. Reviews outcome of preventive maintenance actions and makes recommendations concerning changes to preventive maintenance schedules, procedures, or documentation. Restores equipment to manufacturers' specifications.- Serves as the subject matter expert on imaging technologies. Provides input and/or recommendations to leadership and others for capital and non-capital imaging equipment investment decisions. Works with clinical personnel to correct operator based equipment problems. Serves as a resource to user departments by providing assistance and instruction on proper use of imaging equipment. Provides or helps coordinate in-service training for imaging technologies. Serves as Clinical Technology's Radiation Safety Officer and works with the Radiology Department's Radiation Safety Officer to address issues of mutual concern.- Ensures compliance with all federal/state/local rules and regulations and all applicable policies and procedures governing Kaiser Permanente, National Facilities Services, and Clinical Technology operations. Assists in developing and maintaining a comprehensive and cost-effective Imaging Equipment Program to comply with same.- Conducts imaging technology assessments. Performs miscellaneous duties in support of the Clinical Technology Maintenance Management Program including, but not limited to: project management; IT integration planning and implementation; incident reporting; supply management; capital review; oncall and emergency services, etc.- Collaborates with IT regarding Information Systems to ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Ensures proper connectivity of imaging systems. Works with PACs administrators to address/resolve imaging connectivity issues.- Employs sound computer skills to complete job. Uses word processing, spreadsheets, databases and similar programs to enhance job performance. Basic Qualifications:Experience- Minimum six (6) years of experience servicing comprehensive imaging equipment in a hospital or related health service environment required.Education- Formal training in PACs systems required.- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.License, Certification, Registration- Valid diver's license required.- Certification from an industry recognized institution demonstrating formal training in radiological and fluoro imaging systems required.- Formal certification in PACs systems required.Additional Requirements:- Knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment required.- Specific knowledge of the following: Radiologic theory and technology, Safety requirements when servicing high voltages and working with ionizing radiation, Mechanical systems, Networking theory, Regulatory standards governing all aspects of imaging equipment.- Significant travel throughout all KPMAS medical facilities and the use of a personally owned vehicle required.- Ability to clearly distinguish colors required.- Excellent communication and customer relations skills required.- Willing to work extended hours required.- Work assignments involve standing, stooping, bending, and working in cramped and awkward positions for prolonged periods.- Regularly lifts objects weighting from 10 to 40 pounds and, occasionally, objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds.- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.Preferred Qualifications:- Associate's degree in biomedical instrumentation maintenance and repair/applied science, OR two (2) years of experience in a directly related field preferred.- Certification in medical instrumentation by AAMI, CRES, CBET, or similar organization preferred.
