Cameron Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for an RN Infection Prevention Nurse to join our team.The RN Infection Prevention Nurse evaluates quality of resident care and resident outcomes as they relate to healthcare associated infections; collects, tracks and trends antibiotic use, prepares and analyzes healthcare associated infection data; presents infection data and makes recommendations for actions; monitors employee compliance in use of barriers and infection prevention measures; prepares and presents educational offerings for the staff; serves as a resource to all departments and personnel; implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment; develops and recommends policies and procedures to prevent adverse events; provides internal and external reporting of information and data; promotes compliance with regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements; participates in the facility QAPI program.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms on-going monitoring of healthcare associated infectionsAssesses infection prevention areas for improvement and makes recommendations for corrective actionOversees the antibiotic stewardship program.Prepares the agenda for the infection prevention committeeMonitors or oversees infection prevention practices and employee compliance for all departments and personnel either by direct contact or through other administrative personnel.Serves as a resource for all departments and personnel.Initiates, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies and proceduresConducts outbreak investigation and initiates control measuresReports communicable diseases to the local, state and federal agencies as required by law.Provides educational offerings for orientation and ongoing in-servicesConsults with department heads, pharmacists and physicians as needed to improve careInitiates follow-up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseasesAttends the facility QAPI program and participates in performance improvement activities as well as antibiotic stewardship programs.Reporting monthly infection and antibiotic use data at monthly QAPI. Issues and concerns discussed with the Medical Director and pharmacist.Interacts with occupational health on issues related to exposures to communicable diseases and to bloodborne exposures.Participates in short- and long-range planning for the infection prevention departmentPerforms other duties as directedQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSMust possess a current license as a RN in the state where the center is located.Have a primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or other related field.Be qualified by education, training, experience or certification.Have completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.Ability to teach and evaluate clinical performanceCommunication skillsComputer skills required for the positionBenefitsAs a CommuniCare employee you will enjoy competitive wages and PTO plans.
