Medical Assistant Job Summary and Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting providers with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks such as chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Conveys a positive image of clinic. May be assigned to specific medical specialist to help with patient care related to that specialty. The medical assistant serves in a multidisciplinary capacity providing general services to a wide variety of populations including pediatric, medical, surgical, ambulatory, orthopedic, geriatric, and women's health. Tasks include: Checks schedules and organizes patient flow. Accompanies patients to the exam room and updates electronic medical. Prepares patients for exams/procedures. Assists/performs medication administration, dressings, and collecting of lab specimens as instructed. Relays information regarding follow-up care and return visit to patients and families. Schedules tests and procedures as directed. Obtains lab/x-ray reports, hospital records, referral information as indicated. Job Requirements: Education and Experience: Medical Assisting Diploma, Required. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program, Required. Licensure and Certifications: Candidates must hold one of the following Medical Assistant certifications upon hire: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Certified Medical Assistant AAMA (CMA) Certified Medical Assistant NHA (CMA-NHA) National Certified Medical Assistant NCCT (NCMA) National Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP (NRCMA) Registered Medical Assistant AAH (RMA-AAH) Registered Medical Assistant AMT (RMA) Certified Medical Assistant MMCI (CMA-MMCI) AND Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR), Required Upon Hire. The faith-based system operates in 18 states and includes 103 hospitals. Additional services offered within the system are: long-term care, assisted and residential living communities, community health services organizations, home health agencies, and numerous outpatient facilities.
