This position oversees the Career Center which works collaboratively with internal and external partners and is consistent with the mission of the University. The Center provides centralized and comprehensive career education and support to students and graduates, primarily in the cultivation and enhancement of skills to explore major and career options, master internship/job search techniques and strategies, and connect with industry partners through experiential and professional opportunities.
Direction of Career Development and Employer Relations (75%) -
Lead strategic planning, hire and evaluate staff for all function of the Career Center, including career development & special projects, exploring majors and careers, experiential learning & professional development, employer relations and recruitment, employer campus activities, Career Center operations, Technology and Marketing.
Outreach (15%) -
Continue to foster collaborative relationships within the campus community (Career Center Campus Network) and out (Chamber and other community partners). Strategic recruitment of employer partners to support the fields of study represented by Academic Programs.
Data and Assessment (5%) -
Create and assess yearly SACSCOC Institutional Effectiveness Goals. Support and encourage a campus-wide data point for graduating seniors in each academic discipline (Next Destination Survey). Additionally, share aggregated student data form software platforms (Handshake) with academic partners where appropriate.
Other (5%) -
Other duties as deemed necessary to be assigned by the Dean of Student Services and Academic Support
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of five years experience in Career Services or related field. The Director of Career Services must a) be knowledgeable of Tech's campus culture; b) be familiar with appropriate Tech policies and procedures; c) be self-motivated and have effective oral and written communication skills; d) be proficient in compilation of data; e) possess intellectual maturity and emotional stability; f) possess strong technical ability; and g) be able to network with colleagues across disciplines.
