As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. You will be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, performing detailed account reconciliations, managing fixed asset records, and contributing to financial modeling and analysis across multiple entities. Your expertise will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations, supporting our mission to provide exceptional care and service to our residents.

Franciscan Ministries, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, is a nonprofit Catholic organization. For more than a century, we have cared for generations of families. We own and operate premier senior living communities that provide a spectrum of housing and care options including independent living, assisted living, memory support services, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and community-based home care. Our charitable programs include a domestic violence prevention center and shelter, and we provide scholarships and educational support for students attending an all-girls Catholic high school in the Chicago area.
Position Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for preparation of monthly financial statements, bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, maintenance of fixed asset records, financing modeling and assist with analysis for multiple entities/services assigned.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly journal entries for all communities and operating entities assigned. Collect and review all applicable information from source documents to support journal entries.
- Preparation of account reconciliations assigned. Complete timely and accurately and prepare journal entries as necessary.
- Maintain fixed asset and capital budget subsidiary ledger. Ensure timely and accurate entry of all capital expenditures and disposals. Assist in preparing and maintaining capital budget/capital plans. Reconcile to general ledger and prepare journal entries as necessary.
- Assist finance staff as requested in the preparation of audit work papers, cost report work papers, budget, and other projects and analysis as assigned.
- Assist with financial modeling and other analysis for various entities and services as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned or as area of responsibility indicate.
Position Requirements
- Minimum Education: bachelors degree in accounting
- Minimum Applicable Experience: 2 years related work experience.
