The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for an Volunteer Coordinator, for the MS Gulf Coast Area Command, located in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Job Summary: Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet program needs; prepares statistics, records and reports regarding the same.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of The Salvation Army social service programs. Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices. Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision. Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers. Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D. and one year experience recruiting people to perform work on a volunteer basis preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver's License and eligible driver status under TSA Driver Program.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Additional Information: Part-time (10 hours per week).
