Securitas Northern New England is hiring full time, part time and flex security officer positions at Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC). Our ideal candidate is former/current military, former law enforcement, from a security background or from a healthcare setting. While that is preferred, it is not a requirement and we are happy to teach, train and mentor individuals with less experience.

Our healthcare security officers provide crucial support at EMMC and work in close collaboration with medical center clinical staff to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff and visitors.

Shifts: Inquire with recruiter.

Pay: $19.00 for regularly scheduled officers, $21.00 for a *Flex officer

Requirements:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Must be comfortable working directly with medical staff and patients.
  • High level of professionalism
  • Walking/standing for long periods of time.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Dependability
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and potentially stressful environment.
  • Valid driver's license
  • At least 18 years old
Job Duties:
  • Continuous Monitoring - Site and Patient Observations: Provide uninterrupted observation of patients, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Access Control: Regulate access to patient care areas, screening visitors and their belongings for potential hazards.
  • Safety Assurance: Remove and limit access to objects that could be used for self-harm or harm to others, especially during extended stays.
  • Behavior Monitoring: Stay vigilant for concerning behaviors, especially during off-peak hours.
  • Staff Protection: Offer protective services for clinical staff when patients pose a danger to themselves or others.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Medical Center policies and procedures, notifying appropriate personnel of any changes or incidents.
  • Communication & Coordination are critical at EMMC:
    • Alert floor staff, the Securitas Account Manager, Hospital management, and Police in situations involving escalated patient or customer behavior or need for assistance.
    • Assist clinical staff with de-escalation if necessary, prioritizing patient safety and using physical force only as a last resort.

*What is a "flex officer"? The Flex officer is someone that reports directly to the Account Manager and helps fill in on various shifts. They are provided full time hours, but do not have a ""home base"" on one specific shift.
