Job Description
BCC Software, LLC. is looking for a talented Sr. Cloud Software Engineer/Architect capable of consistently solving technical challenges working in an Agile team environment. The candidate's focus will primarily be on working with BCC's public cloud applications offerings. The candidate must have at least 10 years' experience working with Microsoft Technology stack as well as minimum of 6 years of working with public cloud environments (Azure, AWS).

As a member of the Software Engineering team focused on Cloud Development, the Sr. Cloud Software Engineer/Architect will play a key role in shaping the future of BCC Software offerings and contribute to all the stages of SDLC from the architecture/design through iterative implementation/testing to production deployment and support of SaaS solutions. They will perform research, system analysis/implementation, gap analysis of the requirements, scalability testing and change requests that affect their area of responsibility. Cross-functional collaboration is essential in this role.

Essential Functions
  • Software architecture/design/development with all its related activities in an Agile-based SDLC
    • estimating/sizing stories
    • developing/reviewing code as well as writing unit tests

    • documenting and collaborating on all assigned Sprint activities
    • meeting individual as well as your team's commitments
    • delivering results on a consistent basis
  • As a Sr. member of the team, champion new technology, processes, and best practices of working with our Cloud infrastructur
  • Work closely with Product Owners on requirements, defining acceptance criteria as well as sizing/planning of user stories/epics/projects
  • Be a key contributor to your own team while also being a voice in a much larger Engineering organization capable of working on projects that span multiple teams and geographic regions
  • Own problems and not tasks
  • Maintain thought leadership role in cloud technology and keep up to date on new offerings
Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience designing/developing/supporting public cloud (Azure preferred) Software-as-a-Service solution
  • Minimum 15 years of SaaS software design & development experience
  • Practical experience using software engineering tools including Git source code control, compilers, linkers, debuggers, performance and profiling tools
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and systematic approach to problem solving
  • Experience building and maintaining responsive and scalable Single Page Applications for the web
  • Must be an expect level in one or more of the following, with work-level familiarity with the others:
    • Common cloud architecture and design patterns
    • Native storage, database, messaging services
    • Practical application of Infrastructure as Code concepts including hands on experience with related tools (Bicep, Terraform, ARM, Azure CLI/PowerShell)
    • Docker, Kubernetes and container related technologies
    • GitHub actions, workflows and related CI/CD best practices
    • Cloud-native logging, monitoring and operations tools
    • Identify management and secure operations in the public cloud


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Location

For candidates residing outside of Rochester, NY, this role offers the flexibility of remote work from a home office setting. Candidates based in Rochester will have the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement, working part of the time remotely.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
