About the Job: The Director, Software Engineering is responsible for the technical vision, leadership and cross-functional collaboration of the eCommerce platform. With this role, there are endless opportunities to drive impact on all consumer-facing web sites, web eCommerce, mobile eCommerce applications (iOS and Android native apps), as well as integrations with eCommerce back-end engine, 3rd party delivery service providers, loyalty system, etc. Director, Software Engineering will report to VP Engineering and lead a team of engineering managers. The Day-to-Day: Lead team to develop solutions for digital ecommerce technologies, as well as systems that allow management of digital processes. Manage department budgets, invoices and allocations, timelines, inclusive of alignment to appropriate business initiative/capability. Partner with product owners, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to define epics and user stories, establish priorities, and ensure alignment with product roadmap and tech stack. Provide architectural and technical guidance to the team, ensuring codebase health through best practices in mobile development and web. Partner on resource allocation, technical direction, timelines with Director-level product managers and senior business leaders across Product teams, Data Governance team, Infrastructure, Infosec, to align, design, and deliver solutions that address business problems. Collaborate and drive decisions regarding development tools and programming languages. Lead multiple software engineering teams across spectrum of technologies. Partner with Security team to ensure processes in place for the security of enterprise and customer data. Drive root-cause analysis and remediation for system errors and issues. Partner with stakeholders at Yum and other brands to lead teams and deliver game-changing initiatives. Responsible for reporting team’s performance against goals, risks, and driving contingency planning. Provide recommendations to senior management with the strategic analysis of new and emerging features / initiatives to determine customer impacts and financial viability (ROI). Strong vendor partnership management – especially with software engineering & development companies, implementation partners, and our cloud providers. Is This You? BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related Field. Masters degree a plus. 10+ years leading and managing Software Engineering, architecture, or software development teams. 5+ years software engineering experience. In depth knowledge of systems, agile software development. Proven experience in a leadership capacity within an engineering or IT organization. Excellent influencing, relationship management, communication, and organizational skills including distilling broad strategy into well-structured strategic materials.
