Business Analytics Analyst

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Analytics Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in data-focused roles, with extensive experience in business intelligence data systems and a strong grasp of data management concepts. In this role, you will be responsible for collaborating closely with business stakeholders to gather, comprehend and document detailed requirements, conducting data-driven analyses to answer key business questions, and share actionable insights through clear and concise reports, dashboards, and presentations.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting business operations by delivering automated, trusted, and business-ready insights throughout the analytics lifecycle. This includes performing ad hoc reporting, developing report data models (tabular/multidimensional), creating visually appealing data visualizations, and assisting in the development and maintenance of data governance policies. Additionally, you will ensure data accuracy and reliability through quality assurance validation and work closely with internal teams to resolve data-related issues and ensure seamless data integration.

Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities, will enable you to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. A Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field is required, along with familiarity with SQL, relational databases, PowerBI, Cognos or other data presentation tools. Experience in the insurance industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities:
  1. Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather and document detailed requirements for various projects. Engage in regular meetings and discussions to understand their needs, objectives, and challenges.
  • Conduct comprehensive data-driven analyses to answer key business questions, including identifying trends, patterns, and insights from large datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives, gather relevant data, and utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to provide actionable recommendations that drive strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Present findings in a clear, concise manner through reports, dashboards, and presentations, ensuring stakeholders are well-informed and able to make data-backed decisions.
  • Participate in workshops and brainstorming sessions to ensure all relevant information is captured. Translate these requirements into clear, actionable specifications that guide the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Maintain open lines of communication throughout the analytics lifecycle to ensure alignment and address any changes or issues promptly, fostering a collaborative and productive working relationship.
Reporting & Data Governance:
  • Perform ad hoc reporting using data mining techniques while deciding if ad-hoc report may require permanent buildout.
  • Support business operations by delivering automated, trusted, business-ready data throughout the analytics lifecycle.
  • Create visually appealing and easy-to-understand reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that provide actionable insights.
  • Improve, maintain and develop efficient multidimensional/tabular data models that support a wide range of data access and analysis.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support Master Data Management and supporting Data Governance.
Data Validation and Issue Resolution:
  • Perform Quality Assurance testing in support data team projects and data solutions development.
  • Collect business feedback, perform data investigations, and root cause analyses to document bug requirements.
  • Collaborate with Application, Data, and other internal teams to ensure smooth integration of data across different systems and applications.
  • Other job-related duties, as assigned by your manager.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience (3 years) as a data focused Analyst or a similar role involving Business Intelligence data system.
  • Insurance industry experience or certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and identify patterns and trends.
  • Strong knowledge of data management concepts, database design and data warehouse design.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI, Cognos or other data presentation tools.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, or related systems, and Agile philosophies is advantageous.
