Job Description

Position Summary: The Expeditor for distribution construction is responsible for the process of expediting jobs issued for construction by the customer to include but not limited to verifying the job packets with a site visit, checking permits and/or requesting necessary permits, acquiring all locates, checking the bill of materials to the job prints, making contact notices to the residents and business prior to work being performed, traffic control required, and other various pre-construction requirements and best practices.

Essential Functions:
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to effectively plan and schedule to support the project.
  • Verify required permits and ensure they have been received in accordance with local codes and State laws.
  • Analyze bill of materials to ensure they are adequate for the work to be performed; request any missing materials and notify of any discrepancies prior to the work being handed to the field for execution.
  • Lead problem resolution for issues.
  • Identify issues and escalate as necessary to management.
  • Provide input to management regarding action plans to address long term issues.
  • Support the field construction crews as required.
  • Comply with purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment, supplies, or services, and submit for use as approved suppliers/subcontractors within organization.
  • Effective planning, organizing, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
  • Complete and maintain accurate project records and files.
  • Assemble and maintains all final job packets and readies them for handover to clients.
Minimum Responsibilities:
  • Understanding of basic electrical concepts in materials and services.
  • High energy level with the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Demonstrated computer skills (i.e.; MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • High School diploma.
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
  • Direct experience in distribution line construction and/or services.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
