The YAC program provides engagement, assessment, clinical case management and resource coordination support to Transitional Age Youth (ages 18-25) as part of a collaborative research study to reduce recidivism.Position Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Young Adult Court Care coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered approach and employ motivational interviewing techniques to work alongside participants in the Young Adult Court program. This program, which spans 18-24 months, is designed to support young adults through a highly collaborative approach that includes four stages of support: Engagement, Accountability, Stability & Sustainability, and Attainment.When considering this job opportunity, please be aware that the role may involve high stress levels due to mitigating participant crises and potential exposure to vicarious trauma. It is essential to prioritize self-care and seek appropriate support when needed.RequirementsMajor Areas of Responsibility:Work closely with participants to create individualized goals and provide ongoing support to meet their basic needs and build essential life skills, including crisis intervention.Case management aims to reduce barriers and challenges for youth by meeting them in the community, at the office, in custody jail or in their homes.Facilitate and participate in client orientations, workshops, and prosocial activitiesFacilitate youth support group meetings.Utilize trauma-informed practices to foster a supportive and empowering environment for participants.Employ motivational interviewing techniques to effectively engage and motivate participants throughout their journey in the program.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and cohesive support to participants.Monitor and document participant progress, providing regular updates and reports to the team, including the court.Assist participants in accessing and navigating community resources and services to support their goals and needs.Must be able to provide 24/7 phone support for youth in crisis, assisting with de-escalation.Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Human Services, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related field required.3+ years' experience in a mental health, social services, collaborative court, or community services organization with direct service delivery to the target population OR 1 year of direct service experience and significant lived experience that relates to the population we serve.Experience working with transitional age youth, particularly those involved in the criminal justice system.Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction and motivational interviewing.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with participants.Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.Strong organizational and documentation skills.Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.Possess a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, and drug screen. Previous employment will be verified.Essential Qualities:Understanding of and passion for the Foundation's mission, vision, and values.Enjoys working directly with youth, volunteers, community partners, etc.Passion for and enjoys working directly with TAY population.Working Environment/Physical Requirements:Available to work evenings and weekends as neededPosition may require use of personal vehicle. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending and lifting up to approximately 25 lbs.
