In this Automation Engineer role you will be responsible for designing and developing automated systems that enhance efficiency and productivity. You will work closely with cross functional teams to implement automation solutions that improve product quality, reduce downtime, and increase overall plant performance.

Description

The Automation Engineer will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes, including the selection and integration of hardware and software components.
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and other automation controllers to ensure seamless operation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and optimize processes.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of automation systems to minimize downtime and ensure consistent performance.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems, including schematics, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Train and support production staff on the use and maintenance of automation equipment.
  • Manage automation projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing environment (preferably in medical device).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to medical device manufacturing (ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and FDA regulations).
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming, HMI development, and automation software (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with robotic systems, vision systems, and other advanced automation technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Lean manufacturing and new product development experience is highly desirable
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
