IT Specialist – Client Networking and Cybersecurity Consultant

About the Role

This position will play a pivotal role in advising clients on optimizing their water and wastewater network infrastructure while ensuring robust cybersecurity measures are in place. This position requires a deep understanding of networking protocols, cybersecurity best practices, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential threats. Responsibilities for the position include: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' existing network infrastructure and cybersecurity posture. Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and tailor networking and cybersecurity solutions to meet their specific needs. Design and implement secure network architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems. Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential weaknesses in clients' systems. Provide support and troubleshooting for network and cybersecurity issues, ensuring minimal disruption to clients' operations. Inform and advise on the latest developments in networking technologies and cybersecurity threats, and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Educate clients on cybersecurity best practices and provide training to their employees as needed. Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical concepts and recommendations in a clear and concise manner. Job requirements for the position are as follows: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience in client networking and cybersecurity consulting. Strong knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs. Proficiency in configuring and managing networking equipment such as routers, switches, and access points. Experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies, including antivirus software, intrusion detection systems, and penetration testing tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively in a team environment. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent are a plus.
