How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The analyst within the Sourcing Center of Excellence will be responsible for data-driven operational excellence and standardization across HVAC locations. This individual will support strategic sourcing and supply chain initiatives throughout the organization to help the Commodity Sourcing team achieve goals regarding strategic sourcing, supply chain, process, and operational improvements. This position requires excellent internal customer service abilities as the Sourcing Excellence Analyst will be required to interface both within and outside the Sourcing organization at all levels of management within the Company. It is crucial that the sourcing excellence analyst develop an in-depth understanding of supplier capabilities in the marketplace. The sourcing excellence analyst will be working with confidential data and must be prudent in its use of interpretation. Strategic planning and thinking skills, coupled with analytical and execution skills are critical to the position.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Assist Sourcing Leader with work priorities, support the development of key Sourcing KPI's and dashboards, and automated maintenance.
  • Work independently to document and prepare internal sourcing requirements for commodities and programs.
  • Architect a plan for developing, managing, centralizing, and storing supplier data.
  • Develop and implement data management techniques to ensure the integrity and quality of data.
  • Value Stream Map data gathering processes and recommend solutions to improve accuracy and speed of information sharing.
  • Identify patterns and draw insights from data and use to solve business problems.
  • Functional expert in researching, recommending, and implementing software solutions to enable and streamline strategic sourcing.
  • Manage multiple priorities and resources in a dynamic environment across various businesses and organize complex information.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Develop, document, and deploy standard processes, based upon best practices, to ensure proper function and results within the Sourcing org.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to draw conclusions from data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Identify evolving analytical tools, systems, and processes that may be used to improve overall performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and distribute supplier performance management reports and support resulting supplier reviews.
  • Support commodity and change managers, as well as supplier quality with sourcing opportunity identification and benefits tracking.
  • Mentor junior sourcing team members.
  • Take project leadership roles for assigned projects.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in data analytics
  • Experience in ERP systems / applications - JD Edwards, SAP, etc.
  • Experience supporting Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to generate meaningful reporting that drives results.
  • Ability to create powerful visuals that are easy to conceptualize.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Strong process analysis and documentation skills are required.
  • Willing team player with strong collaborative skills, able to interface both within and outside of the Strategic Sourcing organization at various levels.
  • Must possess initiative with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) analytical skills using Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas, etc.), SharePoint
  • Capabilities in SQL (for extracting data) and Power Query (Transforming and loading data).
  • Power BI (preferred), Qlik, and Business Warehouse to generate automated reports.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques: GLM multiple regression, logistic regression, log-linear regression, variable selection.
  • Programming skills with querying languages: SQL, SAS, etc., and Power Query for transforming and loading data.
  • Experience with analytics for complex projects is a plus.
  • Has the ability to get technical but does not get bogged down by too much detail - goes straight to the point.
  • An excellent team player with strong collaborative skills to be able to interface both within and outside of the Strategic Sourcing organization at various levels.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Data Science certification preferred.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Must be detail-oriented and thrive in a fast-paced environment while having a passion for problem-solving.
  • Some travel required ~10%.
