Overview:

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking an Assistant Project Engineerto be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

The Assistant Project Engineer assists the managing and facilitation of multiple projects, tasks, and modifications by coordinating with Engineering, interfacing with project and systems engineering managers, construction managers, operations managers, project controls, procurement, and other service/support groups. Applies intermediate to advanced engineering principles, concepts, and practices to resolve site wide programmatic issues and establishing an organization capable of achieving all division objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists providing overall engineering and/or design direction, leadership and management for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Integrates and manages engineering resources for assigned projects, by assisting in establishing design criteria, staffing plans, schedules and engineering tools for engineering tasks.
  • Provides administrative direction to assigned leads and managers. Responsible for overall management, scheduling, and priority of the tasks and projects assigned.
  • Assists managing the administration, document control, project control and quality engineering sections for all assigned projects through section supervisors.
  • Resolves conflicts between project direction and technical direction from the functional managers.
  • Participates in department and site wide programmatic issues resolution and quality improvements.
  • Responsible for staffing, evaluating, and developing a reporting organization capable of achieving the objectives of the projects assigned.
  • Assists managing activities of subcontractors to ensure output meets project technical, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Establishes baselines deliverables and engineering work requests.
  • Recommends to project engineering manager, subcontractor authorizations for new work and changes to baselines.
  • Evaluates project cost and schedule variances and implement corrective actions.
  • May assist managing cost accounts for procurement of engineered materials.
  • Establishes projects scope of work including assuring that there are firm customer requirements developed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university
  • Electrical or Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience in design engineering work or technical project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering License in any US state

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energys Savannah River Sites Liquid Waste operations contract. Minimum Pay:
USD $80,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay:
USD $199,000.00/Yr.
