Job Summary

Under supervision, performs echocardiograms including M-Mode, 2-Dimensional, conventional and/or color flow Doppler on adult to geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs most modalities of echocardiography, including 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging.
  • Assists with TEE procedures under the guidance of a qualified physician.
  • Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough, and prepared for review by reading physicians.
Laboratory Operations
  • Rotates to multiple lab locations as scheduled and required by the IAC.
  • Participates in the daily workflow by observing the sonographer worklist to ensure timely patient care.
  • Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable.
Equipment and Maintenance
  • Operates all lab testing equipment and software packages, including ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR, Structured Reporting, and PACS.
  • Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen.
  • Maintains up-to-date maintenance logs, including the monthly cleaning log and the equipment downtime log.
Communication and Teamwork
  • Attends staff/departmental meetings and educational conferences.
  • Participates in discussions and stays abreast of changes in the field.
  • Collects data, images, and articles to share with the team.
Requirements
  • Associate degree from a formal Radiology or Sonography program.
  • One year of echo sonography experience performing non-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies.
  • ARDMS-RDCS certification or CCI(RCS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics.
  • Proficient computer skills (word processing).
  • Medical terminology preferred.
