Sr MRI Technologist at MEDSTAR HEALTH summary:
The Sr MRI Technologist performs MRI diagnostic examinations and coordinates daily activities for the MRI service, ensuring efficient patient flow. This role involves training technologists and students, monitoring safety and quality assurance, and managing workflows of staff and ancillary personnel. Additionally, the technologist reviews and revises departmental policies and maintains records of exams performed.

Trains and orients technologists and students to MRI.
Education

Associate's degree

required

or
One to three years formal training in Radiology Technology required
Experience

1-2 years progressively more responsible job-related experience functioning as a MRI Technologist required
Licenses and Certifications

ARRT MRI

within 1 Year required
Coordinates work flow and activities of staff level technologists and ancillary staff to maintain patient flow and minimize time between patients.
Performs duties of a MRI technologist. Positions patients, sets image parameters, injects contrast and films studies using laser camera.
Reviews and makes recommendations for revision of policies, procedures, and/or regulations and assists in the updating of department training manual.
Serves as an educational resource for staff instruction.

Monitors and trains

technologists in proper techniques, safety and quality assurance.
Assures proper use of MARS system including registration, billing and other patient related functions. Prepares reports and maintains records of exams performed using (MARS). Resolves incomplete lists and ensures proper use of MARS system to include quality assurance and verification of films taken.
Reports equipment in need of repair and/or maintenance and ensures supply levels are properly maintained. Makes recommendations for equipment and supply purchases.
Provides input and recommends personnel actions including performance appraisals, merit increases and promotions for assigned personnel.
